First category documents: Proof of identity documents

The citizenship seekers including childrens must prove their identity by having below documents:

  • Photograph and signature
  • Current residential address
  • Proof of date of birth, birth name and any changes of name
  • Proof of identity in the community
  • Passport
  • Other travel related documents

Second category documents: Good character documents

Third category documents: Other supporting documents

  • If you are eligible for any special residence requirements, exemptions, concessions you must provide the supporting documents for availing your benefits.
  • British and New Zealand immigrants have to show the residence evidence
  • If you are included your childrens name in the application you must provide the supporting documents for that.

General information about checklist

The document that you will furnish with your birth must be a birth certificate or something equivalent to the same. The document must include your birth name, place of birth and birth date. The applicant must also show evidence of change of name and also linkage between the names used accordingly. Passport is also a mandatory document in the checklist. If you have permanent residential address, you can produce that or current residential address will also be enough.

You must refer to table A, if you were issued with a certificate that will mark your Australian citizenship status. It is also important to refer to table A, if you have acquired Australian citizenship by taking birth there. Even if you are adopted in Australia, table C will be mandatory to follow. You must refer to Table E, if you are born outside the territory of Australia before 26th of January 1949.
