A person wanting to work in Australia or pursue further professional studies has to migrate to Australia under the Skilled -Independent category.

Australian Immigration Self-Assessment is based on the following points:

Points for Skill

  • 60 marks for most occupation for specific training.
  • 50 marks for professional occupations
  • 40 marks for skilled occupations.

Points for Age

  • 30 marks for 18-29 years
  • 25 marks for 30-34 years
  • 20 marks for 35-39 years
  • 15 marks for 40-44 years

Points for English language ability

  • 20 marks for effective command of English language
  • 15 marks for Vocational language which helps to cope up with the main meaning in all situations and communicate effectively in the field of work

Points for specific work experience

  • 10 Points are added after working for 3 of the 4 years in case of skill occupation worth 60 points
  • 15 Points for occupations in demand with job offer
  • 10 marks for occupation in demand , but no job offer

Points for Australian qualification

  • 15 marks for postgraduate Doctoratedegree from an Australian educational institution.
  • and work for 2-3 years in Australia
  • 10 marks after a master's degree from Australian educational institution.

Points for regional Australia/low population growth metropolitan areas

5 marks forhaving and studied for 2 years in regional areas or low population areas.

Points for spouse skills

5 marks for the skills, abilities and qualifications of the spouse.

Bonus points

5 Bonus points are given for capital investment in Australia or Australian work experience or fluency in one of Australia's community language.

Points for relationship

15 marks are awarded to if the person has a relative living in Australia and is willing to sponsor the applicant.
